Everything You Need to Know About Playboi Carti’s Utah Assault Incident.

On October 2, 2025, Playboi Carti (Jordan Terrell Carter) was charged with misdemeanor assault in Utah following an alleged physical altercation involving his limousine driver, Carl Reynolds, while traveling to the University of Utah for his Antagonist Tour performance. Nearly ten months later, on July 30, 2026, the full police body camera footage was obtained through a public records request by Cuffboys and uploaded to the channel’s YouTube page, providing the public with a complete look at the officers’ investigation and the statements made by everyone involved.

According to Carl Reynolds, the incident began while Jordan Carter and his girlfriend, Giovanna Ramos, were arguing in the back of the limousine. Reynolds told officers that the argument initially did not concern him, but escalated after both parties allegedly began threatening one another. Reynolds claimed that Carter threatened to assault Ramos and physically harm her, prompting him to pull the vehicle over in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. He said he tried to separate Ramos into another vehicle, but alleged that after everyone exited the limousine, Carter struck him on the side of the head. Reynolds also claimed that although he did not directly witness Carter strike Ramos, he later saw her holding her chest as if she had been hit. He further stated that a second limousine driver witnessed the incident but did not provide a statement at the scene. Reynolds told officers he wanted to press charges and pursue legal action, claiming that Carter had “done this before” and that he was “not getting away with it this time.”

After Reynolds contacted police, officers responded to both his location and the separate location where Carter and Ramos had gone following the incident. While one group of officers interviewed Reynolds, others questioned Carter, his security guard Kyle Jones, and Ramos. During the interaction, one officer realized Carter was the rapper Playboi Carti and attempted to keep the conversation calm while continuing the investigation.

In his statement to police, Carter denied assaulting Reynolds and claimed the confrontation began after Reynolds inserted himself into the argument between him and Ramos. Carter said the situation escalated when his security guard intervened. Throughout the encounter, Carter repeatedly referenced his celebrity status, mentioning that he was on tour with The Weeknd, saying he should have hired a police escort, and noting that his security guard came from “John G.”

Kyle Jones told officers that he was the one who physically intervened, admitting that he pushed Reynolds in the chest while attempting to separate the parties. However, investigators became skeptical after additional interviews revealed inconsistencies in the group’s accounts. When questioned separately, Giovanna Ramos also attempted to accept responsibility, telling officers that she was the one who got out of the vehicle and struck Reynolds herself. The conflicting versions of events raised further questions for investigators.

Officers also discussed the possibility of a domestic violence investigation after hearing Reynolds’ allegation that Carter had struck Ramos. However, because no eyewitness could confirm that Carter physically assaulted Ramos, officers determined they did not have sufficient probable cause to pursue a domestic violence charge. Carter was ultimately issued a citation for misdemeanor assault relating to the alleged assault of Reynolds and was allowed to leave the scene.

Approximately six days after the incident, the second limousine driver contacted investigators. Although he had declined to provide a statement at the scene, he later told officers that he supported Reynolds’ account of the incident, corroborating Reynolds’ version of events during a follow-up interview.

The recently released body camera footage provides the most detailed public record of the investigation to date, capturing the initial allegations, the differing statements from those involved, the officers’ reasoning throughout the investigation, and the events that ultimately led to Carter receiving a misdemeanor assault citation.
