Police Will Remember What You Look Like
GTA VI introduces a more advanced identification system where police can remember Jason and Lucia’s appearance. Players may need to conceal their identity during crimes and change clothing afterward to make themselves harder to recognize. The classic six-star wanted level is also returning.
Rockstar’s Largest Open World
Rockstar told The New York Times that GTA VI’s playable map is approximately three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2’s playable map. Beyond Vice City, Rockstar has already revealed locations including the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, the Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park.
Switch Between Jason & Lucia
The two-protagonist system goes significantly beyond GTA V’s character switching. Players can switch between Jason and Lucia, have one accompany the other, or operate separately. The footage even shows one character driving while the other shoots at pursuing police.
Leonida Is Packed With Side Activities
The extended look confirms a huge range of activities outside the main story, including basketball, scuba diving, parachuting, kayaking, shooting ranges, fishing, dirt-bike racing, track racing and water activities. The footage also shows NPCs participating in activities throughout the world.
Your Body Can Physically Change
Character fitness is once again part of GTA. Players can work out and gain muscle, while unhealthy eating can cause weight gain, bringing back a feature most closely associated with GTA: San Andreas. The extended look specifically shows weightlifting among Leonida’s activities.
Maintain Jason & Lucia’s Relationship
GTA VI appears to make Jason and Lucia’s relationship part of the gameplay itself. The extended look indicates that player choices and the amount of time the two spend together can affect their relationship, suggesting their bond could develop differently depending on how you play.
Stealing Cars Is More Complicated
You can no longer expect every parked vehicle to open the same way. The extended look shows options such as using a slim jim or smashing a window, while previews report that newer and more expensive vehicles can require specialized equipment to steal.
In Game Social Media
GTA VI features a fully accessible in-game social media feed, expanding on the social-media elements shown throughout its trailers. Your actions in Leonida can be captured and posted online, meaning players can potentially go viral based on what they do in the open world.
