How to Spot an Industry Plant.

When an artist suddenly explodes out of nowhere with a fully polished sound, it's a huge sign they might be an industry plant. You'll see their music everywhere, on major playlists, and in viral social media campaigns, without any real history of them building a following from the ground up.

Another dead giveaway is the kind of industry connections they just happen to have, which is often how they land those big opportunities so early in their career. 4batz blew up with only a handful of songs and then immediately got a high-profile Drake remix, a move that's pretty much unheard of for an independent artist.

Of course, it's not always so black and white, and some cases are a total gray area, like with 2hollis. Sure, his mom is a big name in the music industry, which absolutely opens doors. But the thing is, 2hollis is also genuinely talented and produces most of his own music and visuals. So while the nepotism might have given him a leg up, his success is ultimately driven by his own skill and hard work.

The key is to look at the entire picture and notice the disconnect. An "industry plant" is an artist whose success doesn't seem to match their supposed origins. If their career is built entirely on a corporate machine rather than talent, that's when the "plant" label starts to stick. It’s the difference between being handed opportunities and truly earning them.
