Why Ken Carson Might Be Trying to Escape His Record Label.

Ken Carson built his legacy from the ground up, starting in the underground before breaking into the mainstream with the release of his long-awaited album A Great Chaos. Throughout that rise, he has been signed to Opium and Interscope, establishing himself as one of the label’s biggest stars over the past few years.

Ken recently dropped his album xperiment, and on the song “edm” he says, “On my last album, I don’t know if I should sign another deal.” This could hint at him leaving Interscope/Opium for a new chapter, or it could simply be another lyric. Either way, Ken is undoubtedly a star and doesn’t necessarily need Opium to continue growing.

The Opium label doesn’t seem to be benefiting Ken Carson’s career the way it once did. It feels like Ken is the only artist on the label consistently progressing, and that could be one factor holding him back from taking the next step in his career. Of course, this is all speculation, but it remains a possibility given the direction his career appears to be heading.

Ken is also hinting at dropping another project shortly after releasing his latest album, reportedly titled Cartunez. He could simply be flooding fans with new music, or he could be using a strategy that many artists have used to fulfill the terms of a record deal by releasing music more frequently. Interscope/Opium has been a huge part of Ken’s journey, but the question remains: will he stay his label forever?
